CHARACTER INTERPRETATION
» Appearance: A woman of average height and sinewy build, Medusa had dirty blond hair, (now black since possessing her sister's body), that she keeps cropped short in the back with short, choppy bangs and two long lanks of hair she keeps twisted together in front. Her eyes are gold and take on a snake's slit pupil appearance when she's excited or mad. In the series she wears various outfits depending on her infiltration needs, but sticks to a somewhat baggy, sleeveless and hooded black jumpsuit with snake eyes emblazoned on the hood when she doesn't have to hide her identity. She has "tattoos" of snacks in black curling up both of her arms, as well as silver bangles twining up from her wrists. Unless she's in disguise, Medusa does not like to wear shoes, traveling barefoot. Both nails and toenails are usually painted black with yellow vector symbols. See here for image reference.

» Suitability: N/A

» Orientation: Heterosexual. Medusa conceived a child at one point with an unknown man so we know at least that she isn't adverse to sexual relations with men. It's implied she used to be in a involved in what may have been a relationship with Noah, a man, in the past, and the person she shows desire and "romance" to in current canon, Dr. Stein, (twisted as it is), is also male.

» Personality Sadistic, cruel, and patient, Medusa is a villain to her witchy core. One of the most powerful of her kind in the world, a famed Gorgon sister, her goals are undertaken with the utmost care and preparation and the people she commands are controlled and manipulated with every option covered and done up in a neat little bow. She isn't a fan of loose ends or missteps, planning for whatever she needs to get done with no tolerance for disobedience, no compassion, and no shred of what people might call "morals".

Take, for example, Medusa's child Crona. Her opponents are shocked to hear that it's her own flesh and blood, having assumed from the clinical and cold way she treats it, that it surely had to be someone else's child she'd simply spirited away and twisted to her own means. Medusa melted down a weapon, (who take human form when not being wielded in this canon), the demon blade Ragnarok, and supplemented Crona's blood with the black blood made from the sword, making the child the only meister to be created in such a way with their partner literally within them. This means that the sword is constantly around Crona abusing them, and in order to form as a weapon or to speak has to burst from Crona's skin in a shower of blood. Not something most people would wish on their child, but Medusa has a goal and she wants to see if by encouraging Ragnarok and Crona to reap and devour as many souls as possible she can create the next Kishin.

Since youth, Medusa has trained Crona to be vicious and obedient, never once truly acting as a mother or even giving Crona physical contact. Crona's picture books as a child illustrated the many ways in which you could kill something. Crona was forced to kill small animals in different imaginative ways or be locked away in a dark room to starve until it could kill as instructed. Not once does Medusa show any sincere remorse for how she's raised Crona- though she is more than willing to pretend to be motherly in order to push Crona over the edge, more than willing to pretend to be concerned for Crona in order to manipulate Crona's friends.

Her manipulative nature is something second hand to her, and keeping in roles is merely means to an end. She spends a good deal of the series disguised within the very heart of Shibusen as the school nurse, after all, and fools everyone there with the exception of Stein, who still doesn't fully catch on until near the end of her game. Acting sweet, caring, or coy are simply that, acts, and it's rare she actually displays any of the emotion she's truly feeling, face carefully schooled with the exception of twisted violence which shows too easily on her face when she's fighting or threatening, taking wicked delight in such things. Even if something is trying or annoying to her, (as the ridiculous happy-go-lucky nature and silly antics of some of Shibusen's staff is), if her mission depends on it she can keep her cool outwardly.

She's good at knowing what it is that makes people tick, utilizing others' hatred and personalities for her own gain, such as liberating the immortal werewolf Free from prison to use his hatred of Shinigami and his laws for her plans, planting a snake in Eruka Frog to use her fellow witch as a spy and go-to girl, playing off Stein's insanity to try and have the man so like herself join her cause, and handily using suggestions in the friendly capacity of school nurse to do damage to the partnership between Maka and Soul. Medusa knows that power isn't only in magic or the physical, but also in words.

Medusa is the kind of woman who doesn't see any point in keeping around things that aren't any use to her. It's not something she views as horrible of her, since, after all, she's hardly the mommy type. Someone as clingy and dependent as Crona, once they outlive their use, will be discarded, and that's simply how it is for anyone. She even betrayed her own elder sister centuries ago when it was beneficial to her, and then betrayed her a second time by taking over her abandoned physical form to make it her own. However, those who have use to Medusa are watched meticulously, calculated and studied and pushed around for her whims and experiments. She often plants snakes in those she uses, keeping them in line with the threat of using those snakes to implode them from within, and keeping tabs since she can psychically communicate with anyone forced to hold one of her serpents.

A researcher at heart, Medusa does all that she does in order to disrupt the "Order" of the world, bored to death with the balance maintained by Shinigami between humans, witches, and souls. She wants to create an "evolving world", one that experiences change and chaos and therefore would never bore her or let her need to study and create ever end. She creates the black blood to revive the Kishin, conducts experiments on the living and the inanimate, and plays with people's lives as she fits. Medusa is willing to kill countless people, reap countless souls, and destroy lives and society just to get what she wants, even willing to sacrifice her own life if need be in order to make the child she created, her ultimate experiment, succeed.

After all, she's lived for almost a thousand years. If she didn't... things would get awfully boring.

» First Person Sample Choice [Prompt Two]:

I think this is working correctly-

[A muttered voice as the hand pulls back from the device's screen, revealing the speaker, a blonde woman wearing a simple black dress and a white lab coat. She smiles a bit nervously, putting a hand to her cheek.]

Hello, everyone... at least, I believe you're hearing me? I can't say I'm the most up to date with this sort of technology, but I'm hardly useless, surely...

[She clears her throat, getting back on track.]

Ahem. At any rate, it seems I will be here for some time, and obviously I'll be needing a way to support myself... so I hope if anyone knows of any nursing positions open, or perhaps pharmacies? I don't have much job experience beyond that, so I certainly hope so...

[A brighter smile, giving a somewhat half-bow half-nod.]

Thank you in advance.

» Third Person Sample Choice: [Prompt Three]

It wasn't like a collar that tightened until you were forced to have sex was something that Medusa found far-fetched. After all, hadn't she herself melted a demon sword until it was only a vat of black, viscous blood, and then poured that blood in to her own child's veins to create the ultimate weapon? Hadn't her own sister ripped apart a fellow witch's soul and used it to combine humans and weapons in the first place? Hadn't Arachnophobia created a Morality Manipulation tool to lower the inhibitions of others and encourage their descent to madness?

Hadn't she herself released the original Kishin, Asura in to the world, to spread Madness all over the world?

So something as simple and straightforward as this... it was child's play. That didn't stop it being an annoyance, however, if only for the reminder it served as. This "Atia"... so she was a powerful enough "god" to strip her of her powers? Fine, she was accustomed enough to operating under Soul Protect when hiding her powers so as not to be completely helpless even without access to magic. She could deal with that insult, and continue to operate even without her minions, her child, at hand to bend to her will and her needs. The snake witch had worked more than a few times in her centuries of life and she could do it again. She could even deal with the sex- had she not borne a child? Had she not had men as she desired them?

Fingers moved over the black snake scale collar now tight around her throat, examining it clinically in the mirror as she did so, mouth set in a firm line. She'd tried cutting it, burning it, soaking it, stretching it, and all manner of ways that should remove it, but that "god" had invented a tool that so far eluded even a researcher's mind such as she possessed- for a few weeks at any rate.

"Atia" could be praised for that, in a way. For giving her something interesting to frustrate and challenge her, bring some sparks of interest in to the potentially dull centuries further ahead. But what "Atia" could not be forgiven for... was the accursed order that so possessed this place.

The dead came back to life? The collar tightened and threatened to choke but then was so easily loosened? Damage was repaired? Status quo maintained? That was what rubbed Medusa the wrong way, made her look at the goddess in contempt and feel the venom rising up in her blood. Made "Atia" no better than Shinigami, than Mabaa, who clung to the balance they'd created and that was slowly rotting them all.

She would need to tend to this collar or die. Gave up on the mirror and moved to that neat little device, putting on her kind face like an actor puts on a mask, affecting a somewhat shameful look to her features and dropping the volume in her voice to make her collar seem tighter than it was, changed how her chest rose and fell to make her breath seem shorter. It was almost exciting- thinking of who she could ensnare. She almost understood how her sister had felt amidst her webs just waiting for prey to come to her, (fitting, in a way, seeing as this was her body she would be perverting).

As for that "Atia" who had dared slapped this collar on her, however, who she ought be grateful to for "life" and yet who had the gall to neuter her abilities and try to trap her, trap Medusa Gorgon, as if she'd not still find some way to create chaos, create madness... ?

Well. Blaspheming against the gods was second nature to a witch, after all.
